SOLD Rubellite Tourmaline. Text Book Color, Ibadan, Oyo, Nigerian,
SOLD! THIS IS RUBELLITE! Pigeon blood red. The best color we have seen in Ibadan material which is no longer mined and the rough is in possession of high priced designers. Here is your chance to have it all for a little.
7.75 ct. of the best clarity from the rough.
Looks just like ruby.
"From 1998 onwards the Nigerian deposits in farming areas about 40 kilometres from the city of Ibadan in Nigeria's Oyo state were the most renowned. These deposits were virtually mined out within two years of discovery and are largely depleted today. This Rubellite is known for how fine it is and its larger size."
Everyone out there is calling pink and red tourmaline "rubellite," and they are wrong. This is Rubellite Tourmaline, a type-3 gem like emerald. Beware any "flawless," rubellite. Like even the finest emeralds there should be inclusions which is why they call it type-3. The inclusions if not detracting from the beauty of the stone have little to do with the value of the stone. Color, excess inclusions (ugly surface marks), cut and above all COLOR!
No Heat and we will be happy to assist you in mounting this special gem.
Very, very special color
Textbook color. Almost 8 carats (7.75)
Gorgeous lightning bolt magenta flashes race down the inside of the gem with every turn of the hand like lightning. Incredible to watch.
Perfect main stone for men's or women's ring.
Purchased from a Gemologist/Avid Collector, from old stock at great price.
Rubellite is a "Type-3," gem just like Emerald.
This gem is gorgeous and you may never find another this color for under 2500.00 a carat.
Not to be mistaken for the VS pink and red tourmaline being sold out there as Rubellite.
This is the real deal and inspected by a top notch gemologist who stated, "this is the gem upon which all rubellite should be judged for color."
Rubellite should be "Ruby like," The lightning blot like magenta flashes are due to the artisan cut, custom designed for maximum movement when worn.
The average gem changes hands 9 times before the buyer gets it. You will be the fourth set of hands, the miner, the cutter, me, now you.
"This is the best example of true, top Rubellite color I have ever seen. I wish I had a smaller one to use as a teaching tool for my students."
